The Apostolic Carmel Sisters have played a dynamic role in the social change through education since its pioneering efforts from 1870. The city of Mangalore was witnessing a sharp rise in demand for CBSE syllabus. Sr. Agatha Mary A.C the Provincial Superior and her council responded positively with the blessing and approval of Sr. M.Vincent A.C, the Superior General in the suburbs of Mangalore

The Mount Carmel Central School, a co-ed institution, had a humble beginning with only 136 students on roll starting from kindergarten to class V in 2008. Today within a short span, MCCS has metamorphosed into a full-scale centre of education offering value based quality education up to senior secondary level.

The school’s vision “Excellence in holistic human resource development of learners towards building a just and humane society” is realized through its varied curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. With the school motto “Higher and Nobler”, the school has created a conducive atmosphere to excel .All the batches of class X and batches of class XII have also secured 100% result.

The school has excelled in co-curricular activities and has won the International School Award (ISA) from British Council for 2010-13. The school had signed a partnership programme with the British Council in 2010 to work with a UK based Green Bank School, Rochdale, Manchester. As part of this partnership, there was a staff exchange programme between MCCS and Green Bank School in 2011. The school is the proud winner winner of a Million Note Book Challenge. The school won the re-accreditation for ISA in 2014 for another three years.

To be up-to-date with Modern Technology, the school has smart classes of Educomp and Teach Next and SMS facility to get connected with the parents. The various clubs such as science club, fine arts club, health and wellness club, eco club, literary club and young global citizens club are functioning effectively. It is well equipped with laboratories, spacious and updated library, fully equipped audio visual hall, spacious multi-purpose auditorium with a seating capacity of 1200.
Realizing its importance of preparing the students for JEE, NEET, CET and other competitive exams, the school has arranged coaching facility.
