Budding Chess Player – Tiara Gonsalves wins 1st Place at the State level chess tournament

 

Mount Carmel Central School is proud of its student of Class I - Tiara Amanda Gonsalves who bagged the 1st place under 7 girls category in the Karnataka Open Chess Tournament conducted on February 3rd and 4th at Horanadu, Chikmangaluru, scoring 4 points out of 5 rounds.

Earlier this year, she bagged 4th place in Under-7 girls’ category in "5th Karnataka State Schools Chess Championship” scoring 4 points out of 5 rounds, held at Mysore.

 

 

 

 

She also bagged 2nd place in under - 9 girls category in "The Inter School Rapid Chess Tournament - 2018 held at Kundapur, securing 4 points out of 5 rounds.

Tiara is the daughter of Dr. Michael Gonsalves and Dr. Sharmila Gonsalves and is been trained at DERICK CHESS SCHOOL under the able guidance of Mr. Derick Pinto and Mr. Prasanna Rao.

The school management, principal and staff congratulate Tiara for her outstanding achievements and wish her well in the future events.
