On this beautiful day, the feast and birthday of our Provincial Superior Sr Maria Shamita, we give thanks to God for all the gifts that He has bestowed on her, for the very person she is, a unique gift of God destined to fulfill the God given responsibility of our Province.

The festivity began with a meaningful morning prayer by the sisters of St Ann’s Convent, highlighting the theme ‘God, You are my Anchor’. The introduction before Mass by Sr Rose Agnes prepared us to participate in the Eucharist with attentive devotion. The Holy Eucharist celebrated vibrantly by Rev Fr Santhosh Kamath helped all gathered to implore God’s bountiful blessings on our dear Shepherdess Sr Maria Shamita and on the entire province.

In the words of Pope Francis "Our celebrations, like the colours of a rainbow, are an oasis where we stop, to taste the joy of meeting and quenching our thirst for God". Happy to be together with Sister Shamita, the festivity continued in the community hall. The gathering of our sisters in sizeable numbers from our local communities witnessed to the love, loyalty and obedience we pledge to our leaders in our congregation. Sr Maria Kripa, the assistant provincial superior welcomed everyone warmly. This was followed by greetings to our sister on behalf of the entire province - a verse from St Mary’s Convent voiced by Sr Sylvia Soares, greeting song by St Agnes Community, an artistic and creative card from Sr Therese Teena and a flower sapling from Sr Julie Anne.

Sr Shamita, in her message thanked everyone for their presence and greetings, an affirmation of their love and loyalty. Sr Pramila DSouza compeered the programme. The sisters were happy to mingle with one another while sharing the breakfast.
