“A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her”.

International Women’s Day was celebrated on March 8th 2021 in Mary Immaculate campus, Bangalore, dedicating the day to a dreamer, a believer, a doer, and an achiever who is none other than God’s most beautiful creation – Woman. The day began with a prayer service conducted by the students of Class 7 C venerating our patroness Mother Mary, who through her chastity and obedience brought salvation to the world through Jesus Christ and our Foundress Venerable Mother Veronica whose vision enabled Girl Child education a reality in different parts of the world.

Without women in our lives, the world just wouldn't be the same. Jesus was brought into the world by a strong woman and even at the beginning of the humanity, God put a woman on earth to accompany man. With this thought in mind, the students explained the importance of International Women's Day, where even now in the 21st century, women are exploited and abused. Students highlighted the lives of acid attack victims who through their sheer determination and family support are now survivors.

A colourful bulletin board depicting women and their various roles, as well as the stigma attached to them was prepared by the students of Class 8 B.

The teachers dressed in different shades of pink, symbolising the emancipation of women participated in a get together organised by the management. The programme commenced with a prayer service led by Sr. Marina followed by a message by Sr. Rosevera, the principal. Sr. Rosevera highlighted the theme of "International Women's Day 2021 - Choose to Challenge.” Sister, in her speech recognised the achievements of women not only in career but also in playing different roles of a mother, wife, sister and daughter in life effectively. Sister reiterated the importance of changing oneself positively to see the change in the world. She inspired the teachers to show strength and perseverance in one's life.

Sister, on behalf of the management expressed gratitude to the teaching and non teaching staff. She appreciated the efforts taken by the teachers in educating young minds especially during the pandemic by learning new technology. The teachers were felicitated with flowers and a bookmark.

"Where there is a woman, there is magic." May this magic cover the world with its charm and newness; and may we celebrate women every day in every sphere of life. Happy Women's Day!!!
