St. Ann’s Teacher Training Institute, Mangaluru in association with Horticulture Department, and Girija Charitable Trust, Mangaluru, celebrated Vanamahotsava here at the institution on 27th July, 2019.

The programme began with a prayer song and lighting of lamp by the dignitaries - Mrs. Janaki, the Secretary of Agriculture Department, Mangaluru, Ms. Rishel D’Souza the Subject Matter Specialist of Horticulture Department, Mr.S.S. Nayak- Horary President of Girija Charitable Trust, Mr.Suresh Shenoy- the Manager, Mr. Ranjan Shetty- member of the Trust and Sr. M.Shubha A.C. the Principal of St.Ann’s Teacher Training Institute were present. Addressing the Teacher Trainees Mr. Nayak said that the Trust’s main aim is to make Mangalore City bloom. He called upon student teachers to build up a strong will power as teachers, in bringing awareness and concern for nature among students and added saying benevolence is better than unorganized democracy.

In her address to the students, Mrs. Janaki, the Secretary of Horticulture Department said to develop a deep concern and love for nature. Mr. Ranjan Shetty encouraged and invited the Teacher Trainees to enroll themselves as members in the Trust. Ms. Rishel D’Souza presented various ways of making Terrace and Kitchen Garden. They distributed 50 fruit bearing as well as other saplings to the Teacher Trainees and the institution free of cost. The programme ended by voicing out environmental slogans by the audience. There were 15 members from the Trust. Sr. Renita compered the programme and Ms. Parvathi proposed the vote of thanks.
