To spread awareness of dengue and promote and provide a safer and healthier environment, St. Mary’s College organized a dengue awareness campaign on 31st July 2019. A special assembly was organized by Sr. Sagaya Mary the Principal & Mrs. Smitha Karat, biology lecturer to acquaint the students and staff about the symptoms, preventive and remedial measures of dengue thereby encouraging the students to spread awareness about the disease among the students, among their family members and their neighbourhood.

Principal, Mrs. Smitha and students went on larva hunting drive, to identify & destroy mosquito larva in the campus. Some larva samples were brought to the campaign to show to the students.

Through this campaign, major emphasis was laid on preventing the stagnation of water, which often becomes the breeding ground for mosquitoes. Concluding remarks were given by Principal along with homework to collect larva from their surroundings and she also announced class wise prizes for the students who collect highest amount of larva.
